The Shropshire Star, along with the awards sponsors, have been searching for the outstanding and selfless individuals and groups across the region who make a difference to the people around them - and usually don’t expect any recognition for what they do.
The quest to find these special groups and individuals began in the spring when the Shropshire Star asked readers to tell them who they thought deserved to be recognised, those who would go the extra mile without asking for anything in return. And the readers responded . . . . in their hundreds.
The panel of judges had the unenviable task of selecting just three finalists in each category before readers of the newspaper and visitors online voted for their outright winners in ten categories. The prize presentation took place on Thursday, October 10 for afternoon tea at Hadley Park House Hotel.
These awards would not be possible without the support of our sponsors:
Thanks also go to the partners and suppliers. Firstly, Veolia for supporting these awards. British Ironwork Centre who created some unique pieces for our winners to take away and Hencote who provided a bottle of wine for the winners. And finally, to Christine’s Florist who created beautiful table centres for the event.
